How Hollywood scoring works
Hollywood gin is a way of scoring, not a change to the play. You keep three games going at once on one scoresheet:
- Your first win is scored in Game 1.
- Your second win is scored in Games 1 and 2.
- Your third and later wins are scored in all three games.
- Each player is counted separately. Each game ends when a player reaches 100 in it, and from then on wins only go into the games still open. A player who had no score in a game that ended starts in the next open game.
Each game is settled like a normal game: game bonus 100 (200 for a shutout) and 20 per hand won in that game. The match ends when all three games are over. These rules follow rummy-games.com and the description of the 1942 laws on Wikipedia.
House rules you may meet
- Many Hollywood players use 25 for gin, undercut and box bonuses.
- Some keep starting a new game whenever one ends, so there are always three games running.
